Following is a recap of our event's most recent experience.
National Night Out 2010
National Night Out 2010 was the City’s 3rd year of participation in this nation-wide event, and this year’s event was the biggest yet. Over 1,200 residents in 19 neighborhood block parties participated in an evening of fun-filled barbeques, organized kids' activities and visits by the HV Police Department, Clackamas Fire District #1, and members of the Traffic & Public Safety Committee, City Council and City staff.
The evening served to reinforce our community’s strong commitment towards Neighborhood Watch and community partnership. Heightened crime prevention awareness and a strong police/community relationship maintain the safe livability that Happy Valley neighborhoods enjoy.
July 4th Family Festival 2010
July 4th 2010 Parade
Thousands of visitors attended Happy Valley’s 2010 Fourth of July Family Festival. The event began with a Family Float Parade as hundreds of bicycles, floats, classic cars and wagons decorated in patriotic colors wheeled down Ridgecrest Road and into Happy Valley Park. Once inside the park, festival-goers were treated to carnival rides, games and prizes and live musical entertainment. There was a tempting variety of tasty food from the many participating food vendors.
At dusk, a spectacular fireworks show put the finishing touch on a day of excitement. Shooting high over the park, the display brought cheers and applause from the appreciative crowd. This is the city’s largest community event of the year, and is made possible through the generous support of our corporate sponsors and citizen donations.
Dumpster Day 2010
The City of Happy Valley offered a free Dumpster Day on Saturday, June 12th, 2010 at Happy Valley Park. Goodwill was there to collect items for resale as well as e-cycle items like computer monitors and console televisions. Waste Management also collected bulky items for disposal. It was a good day for the environment as we reduced landfill waste, potential roadside dumping and enjoyed a great event for our community.
Happy Valley Fun Run
Over 500 participants took to the streets for the 1500m Kids' Classic and the 5K & 10K Run/Walks in the Happy Valley Fun Run.
